We are two days into the 2017-2018 school year. The kids have had a busy 2 days so far! The first week or so are filled with preparing for the year by organizing school supplies, getting to know each other, reviewing routines and procedures, and developing classroom expectations.

Today, we read What Do You Do With An Idea by Kobi Yamada. This beautiful picture book is about a young child and his journey of being afraid to share his idea to becoming confident, feeding his idea, and allowing it to grow. After we read the story we went outside and studied bubbles! The kids were charged with the task to identify ways bubbles are like ideas. They came up with many great ideas that revolve around themes such as respect, effort, and kindness (a picture to come!) Tomorrow we will use their comparisons along with new ideas to create classroom expectations and norms.

The year is off to a great start!
