Welcome to 5th Grade!

Picture
My family visiting Cape Cod this summer.
I hope you all had a wonderful summer vacation! We are going to have so much fun this year. I can't wait to meet you! Before you arrive, here are some things that you might like to know:
  • Our classroom is in the blue hall, "Peacefulness Path"
  • Our team is called The Panthers
  • There are 4 teachers on our team:
    • Mrs. Kewriga - your homeroom, math, and ELA teacher. I also teach math to Mrs. Gestrich's class.
    • Mrs. Gestrich - Social Studies
    • Mrs. Buffone - Science
    • Mrs. Belbin - Math (she teaches math to her homeroom and Mrs. Buffone's class). Although you won't have Mrs. Belbin, you'll love having her on our team!

My website is both for students and parents. Once the year gets started, you'll find the math tab most helpful with links to games and homework help! I also like to post pictures and updates on the Blog, so check back often!

Parents

Communication
I'm looking forward to working with you and your child this year! Communication is a priority for me. I'd love to work together to make this a successful year for your child. You know your child best and I would like to hear from you. Please fill out this survey to help me get a better understanding of how I can help your child best this year.

Also - I will be using Bloomz this year for classroom communications. Please scroll to the bottom of the page for directions to sign up. Bloomz is also a good way to communicate with other parents in the classroom. Please email me directly with any questions/concerns/thoughts at kewrigac@westboroughk12.org.

Snacks

Our classroom is a peanut and tree-nut free room. It is very important that students bring snacks that do not contain:
  • peanuts
  • almonds
  • brazil nuts
  • cashews
  • chestnuts
  • hazelnuts
  • macadamia nuts
  • pecans
  • pine nuts
  • pistachios
  • walnuts

If your child is allergic to a nut not listed above, please email me and I will be happy to add it to the list.

Students will have snack when they return from their specials in our homeroom during math. Snack time is expected to be a working snack. Your child will be allowed to have a water bottle in class at his/her desk throughout the day. In fact, this is encouraged!
