Personal Narratives
Overview
Personal narratives are small moment stories that students write about themselves. The stories are zoomed in on a particular time of importance - whether it was a time when the student realized something about him/herself or someone close to him/her; a time when he/she needed to make a change in him/herself; or a time when he/she learned something. These three areas are the heart and soul of a personal narrative. Throughout our Personal Narrative unit, students continually ask themselves: "What is my story really, really about," to help them uncover the deeper meaning of their story.
