Week of 1/22/18
This was a fun filled week. In math we worked on subtracting fractions and the different ways you can do it. You can draw a number line or subtract from the whole. We did some sprints and took a quiz.
Ela was fun too! We had special guests Sara Holbrook and Michael Salinger who are poetry writers. And we made some really good infomercials about integrity and they all turned out great!
In social studies we worked on the Jamestown colony and how they went through some hardships and we watched a great video parody.
In science we did a lab and found out that different mixtures and solutions need to be separated in different ways like gravel could be filtered by a screen and that powder could be separated by a filter and salt would not get filtered because it dissolved.
We also had a very cool meeting about a new project the whole fifth grade is doing to improve personal wellness.
