In ELA, we started our first reading unit of the year. Students are learning about writing about reading - and good qualities of writing about reading. Students are reading their own books right now but will be put into book clubs next week! Some of the theories students are developing about their characters and plot are amazing! So insightful already! We are also working on completing a writing piece for Open House.
In math, we are exploring decimals up to thousandths. Students have learned about the different ways to write a number: standard form, unit form, expanded form, and word form; rounding, comparing, and ordering decimals; and adding decimals. We will be moving onto subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals. Be on the lookout for a test somewhere in the next 2 weeks!
Speaking of tests - students will ALWAYS be given a study guide with topics that will be on the test as well as practice problems. We will also have a review class before the test.
Open House is coming up on Wednesday at 6:30 for parents only. I will begin at 6:35, Mrs. Gestrich and Mrs. Buffone will join us shortly after, and we will all be making our way to the auditorium for 7:10. I am looking forward to seeing you!
