What is a Passion Project?
WHO - The students of Mrs. Kewriga's class and students all over the United States engage in Passion Projects. Students can work individually, with a partner, or in a group of 3. There can be no more than 3 in a group.
WHAT - A Passion Project gives students the opportunity to explore topics of interest and/or questions/wonderings and ponderings. Students need to develop an essential question (or "driving question"), research, put together a project, share it, and reflect. The presentation can be a poster, song, website, PowerPoint, Google Slides, iBook, creation of some sort, a video, skit, brochure, pamphlet or anything else that the student can think of.
WHERE - The students will engage in their passion projects at school. This is not a home assignment. Of course I would hate to tell students to not do this exciting work at home, however the majority of the work should be completed at school. Some exceptions may be if students want to gather materials, interview experts, or any other type of activity that must be done outside of school.
WHEN - Students will engage in their Passion Projects during Activity Periods. Students will determine a designated time to work on their Passion Project.
WHY - Passion Projects are meant to motivate students to get involved in their learning based on topics that they are interested in. In doing this, they are also sharing their passions with us!
Here are some videos to explain a bit more about Passion Projects. Below the videos you can find attachments of materials that students need.
